Special Services: Taizé Prayer Taizé Prayer is a contemporary form of sung or chanted prayer developed by a Christian community in the village of Taizé, France during World War II. It is meditative, simple and participatory, enclosing those present in a sense of warmth, peace and love. Taizé Prayer is highly visual with particular emphasis on the cross, usually surrounded by candlelight. The most important and distinctive feature of this service is the style of prayerful singing. A few words sung over and over reinforce the meditative quality of the prayer. Periods of silence are interspersed throughout the service. Following the service, Trinity offers refreshments and fellowship in the parish hall. Taizé Prayer is a special offering of Trinity Episcopal Church to Findlay and northwest Ohio. People from many Christian denominations and faith traditions attend and often travel some distance to participate. |
