Trinity is one of nine partners in a daytime shelter for the homeless. The center, which opened December 1, operates at two locations, City Mission and Focus on Friends. A noonday meal is served. Clients have the opportunity to spend their time productively to search for jobs, using Internet and phone access provided there. A professional coordinator oversees the operation of the center, which is staffed by volunteers from the faith and agency communities working together. Churches involved include St. Andrew United Methodist, Central Church of Christ, First Lutheran, and Trinity Episcopal. In addition to City Mission and Focus on Friends, Hope House, the ADAMHS Board and the University of Findlay are the community partners. Our current Outreach chairman serves on the short term planning committee and our pastor is a member of the long-term planning committee. Our parish has provided financial support as well as volunteers and supplies. The present center is a short-term effort aimed at gathering necessary information for establishing a permanent center planned for fall 2012 at a different location.
